It is acceptable to remove a member of a society or group if he or she is thought to be inferior to others. My opinion hasn't changed on this statement because when I first heard about this quote because I think that a society needs a variety of different people with different skills. If most people in the society were higher class or leaders, and there were also middle class people you wouldn't take them out of your group. In the future you may need them. Thats why I think that a variety of different people with different skills would be a better society as a society where everything is the same.

I think that there is no right answer for the question "what is the good life?" The good life is not about how happy you are or how great your family is. A good life is what you make out of it. You decide what makes your life good. You can make it the way you want it to be. It might be that a good life is one that is full of happiness and wealth or love. There is no right or wrong answer to what is a good life because what is good is different for different people. Everyone has their own unique life and they should believe that its the good life. I know my life is good when I'm happy and enjoying myself.

My Identity

Monday, September 13, 2010

The protagonist in my book is 15 year old Tessa. Tessa is in a comma and is anti social. She is in a comma because of an accident in gym class. While Tessa is in the comma she believes that she is dead and in heaven which appears to her as her hometown mall. She has an one older brother named Matt. Tessa doesn't have a best friend or any friends at all. When she was little she hanged out with her neighbor Naomi who convinced Tessa to smoke a cigarette at the age of 10 "She hands me the cigarette, and I put it in my mouth and breathe in" . Both of Tessa's parents work at her hometown mall. Tessa has visions of a memory that she had at a store at her hometown mall while she is in the comma. "I curl up on a bench in front of Cinnabon and crash." "I sleep the dreamless sleep of the dead" " Am I dreaming again, or is the part of where I am lying in a hospital bed the dream, and is this really Heaven" These are all quotes where Tessa wonders if she is really in a dream or not?

"I know the girl on the floor, the one with her neck bent all weird, I know the girl is me.But I'm a too busy soaring toward heaven to care. And the thing that is most surprising the thing you might not know ,is that in the right light, Heaven looks a lot like the mall."

I think that this passage of the book I am reading (Heaven looks a lot like the mall) best describes the Journey in the book. 16 year old Tessa is in a coma because of a gym accident. While Tessa is in a coma she finds herself in heaven (or what she thinks is heaven) which happens to bear a striking resemblance to her hometown mall. In each they explain a memory or a vision that Tessa had at her hometown from when she was 3 to 16. Each paragraph or each memory involves a small conflict that is the journey of Tessa at the mall.
